HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in Phnom Penh today, November 8, starting his first official visit to Cambodia since taking office at the invitation of his Cambodian counterpart, Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

The Vietnamese prime minister will meet President of the Cambodia Senate Samdech Say Chhum, President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin and Cambodian King Norodom Sihmoni on the same day.

The prime minister will attend the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and some relevant conferences in Phnom Penh between November 10 and 13, the local media reported.

His official Cambodia visit is aimed at strengthening the friendship and partnership between the two countries and boosting the long-term economic cooperation, apart from demonstrating Vietnam’s support for Cambodia as the Chair of ASEAN 2022.

The visit will also mark the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties, said Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu.
