HCMC – Vietnam’s Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on January 21 (Hanoi time) wrote to Donald Trump congratulating him on being sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.

The three Vietnamese leaders affirmed that Vietnam regards the U.S. as a strategically important partner.

Given the strides in bilateral cooperation in the recent past, they expressed confidence that Vietnam’s ties with the U.S. would continue to strengthen under President Trump’s leadership.

They emphasized the importance of adhering to principles of mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, and political systems, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development both regionally and globally.

This is particularly significant as the two nations commemorate 30 years of diplomatic relations (1995–2025) and mark the second year of their comprehensive strategic partnership.

The same day, Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan also sent a congratulatory letter to U.S. Vice President James David Vance.
