HCMC – Three major projects costing a combined VND84 trillion have been proposed in Vinh Long Province, spanning renewable energy, coastal development and navigation infrastructure.
The proposals were presented by Tan Hoan Cau Corporation JSC at a meeting with provincial authorities on June 11.
The largest proposal is a VND60 trillion coastal development project in Thanh Hai Commune. Covering around 2,000 hectares, the project would combine coastal erosion protection and land reclamation with the development of an industrial park, seaport, tourism urban area, commercial and service facilities, and aquaculture zones.
The company said the project could help expand investment opportunities while tapping the province’s long-term marine economic potential.
Another proposal involves the Haiphong Wind Power Plant project, with an estimated investment of nearly VND9.9 trillion. The project comprises the Hai Phong I and Hai Phong II wind farms, with a combined capacity of 200 MW divided among four component plants of 49.5 MW each.
According to the company, the wind power project has already secured investment approval and a credit financing commitment. However, following administrative restructuring, the approval documents need to be revised to reflect updated place names, boundaries and related legal information.
Tan Hoan Cau also proposed adjusting the Ham Luong navigation channel, saying that the existing route passes through areas occupied by wind power facilities, creating potential safety risks for both waterway traffic and turbine foundation structures.
At the meeting, Tran Van Lau, secretary of Vinh Long Party Committee, said investment projects must comply with provincial and sectoral planning, land-use plans and existing legal regulations. He added that relevant agencies would continue reviewing the proposals before any further consideration.
