VIX Securities has new board chairman

HCMC – Thai Hoang Long, deputy general director of VIX Securities JSC (HOSE: VIX), has been picked as chairman of the board of directors for the 2021-26 term from today, April 18, replacing Nguyen Tuan Dung.

Long, 53, has worked in the financial and securities sector for 15 years. Before becoming the company’s deputy general director in October 2022, he had served as general director of Viet First Securities Corporation and deputy general director of Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade Securities JSC.

This year, the firm looks to obtain VND676 billion in pre-tax profit and VND540 billion in after-tax profit, surging 80% and 73% compared to the 2022 results.

It posted VND272 billion in revenue and VND11.9 billion in profit before tax in the first quarter of 2022.

VIX closed today’s trading session 1.69% higher than the previous session, at VND7,800 and reported a matching volume of more than nine million shares.

With winners outnumbering losers by 226 to 153, the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange added 1.21 points, or 0.11%, from the session earlier to 1,055.02 points.

Over 539.7 million shares worth VND9.5 trillion changed hands, up 19% in both volume and value from the previous session, including 45 million shares valued at VND1.1 trillion traded in block deals.

There were 14 stocks rising and 13 others dipping in the VN30 basket, with VIB, STB and PDR standing at their reference prices.

PLX and SSI were the best performers in the VN30 basket as they gained 1.9% against the session earlier at VND36,800 and VND21,750, respectively.

Real estate stock DIG took the lead by liquidity today on the southern bourse with over 33 million shares traded and rose to the upper limit at VND17,400.

On the northern bourse, the HNX-Index inched up 1.62 points, or 0.78%, from yesterday’s session, at 208.35 points, with 91 advancers and 61 decliners.

Trade on the Hanoi Stock Exchange totaled over VND1 trillion worth of 74.3 million shares, including 24.1 million shares valued at nearly VND325.5 billion transacted in block deals.
