HCMC – Vietnam Airlines began offering online check-in service to passengers departing from Sydney and Melbourne airports in Australia starting August 1.

Passengers who successfully check in online with or without checked baggage still need to go to check-in counters to verify their boarding pass and identity documents, in order to ensure compliance with Australia’s National Identity Proofing Guidelines, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The online check-in service is expected to offer passengers a hassle-free experience when flying with the Vietnamese national flag carrier.

The carrier now offers online check-in services at 16 domestic airports and 30 international ones such as Moscow in Russia, Seoul and Busan in South Korea, and Frankfurt in Germany. It looks to provide the service at all domestic airports to and from which it operates flights, as part of its efforts to develop into a digital carrier.

Passengers taking Vietnam Airlines flights are recommended to conduct flight procedures online on the carrier’s website at www.vietnamairlines.com or mobile app within 24 hours ahead of departure to save time and avoid long queues at airports.
