HCMC – Over VND 1.3 trillion will be allocated to expand Tan Thoi Hiep 21 road in District 12, HCMC, increasing its width from 6-7 meters to 25 meters to reduce traffic congestion and prevent flooding.

The project was recently approved by the city’s People’s Council following adjustments to its expansion scope, budget and timeline.

The project also includes building a 320-meter drainage system. Site clearance will affect 447 households and businesses, with 37 households to be relocated. The project is expected to be completed by 2026.

Approved in 2015 with a budget of over VND403 billion, the project was divided into two phases: site clearance (VND269 billion) and construction (VND134 billion). The original plan aimed to widen the road to 16 meters, but delays due to compensation issues led to only partial construction of the drainage system.

In addition, District 12 is working on upgrading Thanh Xuan 25 road with a budget of nearly VND490 billion to improve connectivity to Binh Duong Province and ease congestion.

Tan Thoi Hiep 21 is a crucial route in District 12, connecting National Highway 1 and Duong Thi Muoi Street. Its current narrow size and inadequate drainage frequently result in traffic congestion and flooding.
