HCMC – Vietnam’s wood exports surged by 25% to US$10.7 billion in the first seven months of 2024, according to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry – HCMC Branch (VCCI-HCMC).

Tran Ngoc Liem, head of VCCI-HCMC, unveiled these figures during a press conference on August 20, ahead of the upcoming Smart Furniture Solutions Vietnam 2024 (SFS VIETNAM 2024) exhibition.

While the export growth is encouraging, Liem pointed out that the industry’s performance still trails the US$11.5 billion achieved during the same period in 2022. He attributed this to ongoing global conflicts, market uncertainties, and stricter post-pandemic regulations.

William Pang, CEO of Pablo Publishing & Exhibition, co-organizer of SFS VIETNAM 2024, said that the recent growth indicates Vietnam’s growing importance as a key production hub in the global wood-working market.

The SFS VIETNAM 2024 exhibition, scheduled for November 27-30 in Binh Duong Province, will feature nearly 300 booths from over 180 exhibitors. The event aims to help local manufacturers access new technologies and legally sourced raw materials, ultimately reducing costs and improving efficiency.
