HCMC – Work is expected to begin on an expressway connecting Hoa Lien and Tuy Loan in the central city of Danang in the first quarter of next year.

The feasibility study for the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan expressway might be approved by the Ministry of Transport this month, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The prime minister approved stopping the build-transfer development of the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan section of the Ho Chi Minh highway project. This section was then added to the Governments 2021-2025 medium-term public investment plan. This means the section would use State money, instead of private sector capital.

The Ministry of Transport has requested the government of Danang to quickly review and approve the project’s environmental impact assessment report.

According to a report of the Hochiminh Road Project Management Board, Danang had handed over cleared land along 1.5 kilometers of the road out of the total 11.5 kilometers and paid compensation of VND8.3 billion. The site clearance was then suspended following the prime minister’s approval to stop using capital from the private sector.

The Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan section of the Ho Chi Minh road project would be developed as an 11.5-kilometer expressway, starting from Hoa Lien Commune and ending at Hoa Nhon Commune in Hoa Vang District.

The four-lane road will allow a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour and require over VND2.1 trillion in investment backed by the State budget.
