Must read

HCMC – HCMC has detected some 14,800 Covid-19 patients who are children aged below 16 since early this year, said Nguyen Huu Hung, deputy director of the municipal Department of Health.

At a press briefing on September 8, Hung said 12,000 children in the city had recovered from Covid-19, while 13 had died of the disease. Most of the children who succumbed to Covid-19 had underlying illnesses.

The city is treating more than 2,800 child Covid-19 cases.

The resistance of children is stronger than that of adults and they have fewer underlying illnesses than adults. Therefore, the number of children getting Covid-19 is smaller.

However, children need caregivers so their parents tend to get infected with Covid-19 as well. Therefore, medical centers have to treat both children and their parents.
