HCMC – The Danang government held an urgent meeting on January 28 to discuss solutions to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, while the HCMC government issued a statement ordering the relevant agencies to be on high alert after new locally-transmitted cases were reported in the northern provinces of Hai Duong and Quang Ninh.
Danang asked the health sector to prepare equipment and human resources to prevent the transmission of the pandemic in the community and maintain the operation of the Tien Son field hospital until after the Lunar New Year holiday, the local media reported.
Danang Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam required those returning from the two provinces to be put under supervision, declare their health conditions and quarantine themselves at their homes.
The city also ordered a restriction on gatherings involving a large number of people and asked competent agencies to get the latest updates on the pandemic to make appropriate adjustments.
All residents must wear face masks while going out. In addition, the police and military forces must control the entry into the city, Nam added.
Meanwhile, the HCMC government asked the heads of departments, agencies, organizations and districts to enhance the inspection of the deployment of Covid-19 prevention and control measures, while limiting gatherings and festivals.
The competent agencies must continue asking residents to wear face masks in public places and fine violators.
The HCMC High Command was assigned to coordinate with the Department of Health to closely control quarantined people, ensure they are placed under quarantine for 14 days and prevent the transmission of the pandemic at quarantine centers and from these centers to the community.
The municipal Police Department must enhance inspections to promptly detect those illegally entering the country and organizing illegal entry as well as lodging facilities receiving people illegally entering the country and impose punishments on them in line with the law.
The municipal government also asked the Department of Health to cooperate with districts and other relevant agencies to supervise the deployment of regulations on quarantine and medical supervision after the quarantine period.
In addition, the Southern Airports Authority must direct airlines to seriously comply with regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control and work with the relevant agencies to detect infected cases early, including those at high risk of infection.
