HCMC – A nationwide downtrend in Covid infections continues as the country saw the case count decline from 1,239 yesterday to 1,114 cases today, May 28, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi recorded 285 new cases, followed by Vinh Phuc with 70 cases, and Yen Bai and Phu Tho with 65 cases each. The remaining localities reported fewer than 55 cases each, including HCMC with 31 cases.

Nearly 8,500 patients were confirmed free of the disease today, sending the country’s total recoveries to over 9.4 million. Besides, the country has not reported any new Covid death.

The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE), under the Health Ministry, has decided to allocate nearly 2.5 million doses of the Pfizer Covid vaccine donated by the Australian Government to localities to inoculate children aged 5-12.

Up to now, Vietnam has received over 9.6 million doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines to vaccinate children of this age group. Of them, NIHE has allocated over seven million doses in four phases to localities across the country.
