HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, June 4, confirmed 881 fresh Covid cases, falling by 158 against the day earlier.
Hanoi recorded 218 new cases, followed by Yen Bai with 72 cases. Other provinces had fewer than 50 cases each.
Today, over 9,600 patients were confirmed free of the disease. No new Covid deaths were reported.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed scrapping the regulation that passengers arriving from abroad must have a Covid-19 travel insurance policy with a minimum payout of US$100,000.
According to the ministry, the Covid treatment now costs far less than before and most patients do not have to stay at hospital for a long time. Therefore, the regulation is no longer necessary.
In another development, Luong Ngoc Truong, director of the Thanh Hoa Center for Disease Control, has denied news reports that the province refused to receive Covid vaccines and proposed giving its vaccines to other provinces.
At an online meeting between the Ministry of Health and provinces on June 1, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology reported that Hanoi, Hai Duong and Thanh Hoa had refused to take delivery of Covid vaccines.
Truong said in February, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology allocated over one million Pfizer doses which would expire in June to Thanh Hoa but did not provide solvent.
The province later proposed changing Pfizer to the Moderna vaccine. Among the one million Pfizer doses which were first allocated to Thanh Hoa, 700,000 doses have been provided to other provinces.
