HCMC – HCMC will develop 10 residential projects along the city’s first metro line to meet the rising housing demand, according to the municipal Department of Planning and Architecture.

These residential areas, which require a combined 577 hectares of land, will lie along 15 kilometers of the metro line from the Saigon River to the History Ethnic and Cultural Park.

These projects will be located in Thao Dien, An Phu, Truong Tho, Binh Tho, Linh Trung, Tan Phu, Long Binh and Hiep Phu wards.

They will have a maximum of 45 floors and accommodate a total of over 86,000 people, the local media reported.

No new residential areas will be developed from the Saigon River to downtown HCMC as many apartment buildings have been mushrooming there, according to the department.

The city will also encourage the development of multifunctional facilities, high-rise buildings, parks, pedestrian streets and parking lots surrounding the metro stations.

The city’s first metro line costs over VND43.7 trillion and spans around 20 kilometers, starting from Ben Thanh Station in downtown HCMC to Long Binh Depot near the Suoi Tien Theme Park. The project is over 92% complete.
