HCMC – South Korea and Taiwan are set to take in more Vietnamese workers to keep up with the rising domestic demand following two years of pandemic restrictions.
The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has announced to enroll some 2,800 employees to work in South Korea, with the recruitment demand being mainly in the manufacturing sector.
Taiwan also welcomes back foreign migrant workers, including Vietnamese nationals, for domestic industries for the coming Lunar New Year holiday.
The increased demand for labor in international markets has encouraged local training centers and educational institutions to supply more highly qualified and skilled workers.
Lac Hong University in the southern province of Dong Nai reported that it sends between 80 and 100 people to Taiwan for guest work each year, mostly in information technology, automotive, electronics, tourism and communication.
Local students and trainees have been provided with favorable conditions for internships in Taiwan due to the support of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, the Council of Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam and relevant agencies.
In the January-September period, some 103,026 Vietnamese workers were working on a contract abroad, reaching 114.5% of the year-end plan and rising by 240.6% compared to the same period last year.
Of the Vietnamese workers in foreign countries and territories, there were 44,585 people in Taiwan, compared to 1,668 in South Korea.
