For Binh Minh Plastic, nurturing the spirit of sharing and showing compassion for the underprivileged, especially those living in poverty-stricken localities or suffering from natural calamities, are regular corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. The company has for years quietly conducted philanthropist programs to soothe people’s sufferings.
Instead of launching CSR activities in cities or towns, Binh Minh Plastic often chooses to go to hinterlands where living conditions are low and not properly attended to.
Most recently, the company organized the Full Moon Festival in Krong A Commune in the Central Highlands province’s of Dak Lak’s M’drak District on September 10 to bring the festive atmosphere to children there. Up to 1,000 school children in this poverty-stricken commune had the rare occasion to enjoy the festivity, participating in singing and dancing around the bonfire and being given Full Moon gifts.
On the occasion, Binh Minh Plastic presented 20 scholarships worth VND1 million each to outstanding students there.
Binh Minh Plastic often responds enthusiastically to campaigns to support the unfortunate as well, especially those suffering from natural disasters like floods or storms in the central region.
In late 2020, the company donated VND2 billion via Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper to support victims of floods. Wisit Rechaipichitgool, deputy general director of the company, said that Binh Minh Plastic deeply cared for and had a profound compassion for people in the central region due to severe floods that claimed human lives and properties. The donation, he said, alongside support from the community would help the flood victims to overcome damages.
When Covid-19 broke out, Binh Minh Plastic quickly lent a helping hand. The company donated VND1 billion to the Vietnam Fatherland Front to help competent agencies in the fight against the pandemic and to support poor people. In addition, Binh Minh Plastic also donated 500 disinfection sprayers to medical facilities in HCMC and 50 other sprayers to Ben Tre Province. Its northern affiliate also donated two tons of rice to Hung Yen Province where the pandemic was surging.
Apart from donations to the underprivileged, Binh Minh Plastic encourages the spirit of sharing among its employees. During the 2019 Tet holiday, for example, Binh Minh Plastic executives and employees donated VND50 million to the poor in HCMC. The company also regularly organizes blood donation drives each year, with the participation of some 700 workers each time.
According to Binh Minh Plastic, the company spends billions of Vietnam dong each year on other social programs, including financial support for poor households, caring for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, building some three gratitude houses on average, and offering scholarships among others.
Binh Minh Plastic’s strong commitment to the community has been recognized by society, given several awards it has won to this effect. On March 30, 2022, the company was awarded the Vietnam Golden Star prize that was given to those enterprises performing good deeds towards laborers and the society with a high sense of responsibility.
