HCMC – The police of Dong Nai Province have cracked down on a massive interprovincial illicit drug trafficking ring.
Six traffickers were detained, while the police seized over 18,000 pills of synthetic drugs, 26 packs of methamphetamine, six shotguns, 63 bullets, over VND17 million in cash and many other relevant items.
The investigation showed that in September, the police of Dong Nai Province and Long Thanh District discovered the group of traffickers illegally buying drugs in many provinces in the northern and central regions to sell them in Dong Nai Province.
Ringleader Tran Duy Thang, a 26-year-old native of Ninh Thuan Province, has a record of arrests and convictions for drug trafficking. After being released from prison, Thang contacted other traffickers to establish a drug trafficking ring in Dong Nai.
On December 24, the Dong Nai Department of Police formed five groups to bust the ring active in Bien Hoa City and Long Thanh District and arrest these traffickers, the local media reported.
