HCMC – Noi Bai International Airport is preparing for a significant increase in passenger traffic this summer, with over 620 flights and some 109,000 passengers expected on its busiest day, up around 38% over the regular days.
The projected passenger numbers for the peak day are estimated to be 15% higher than last summer. International passengers and flights are anticipated to increase by 140% and 58% respectively, compared to the figures from the previous summer.
However, domestic passenger and flight numbers may decline 3% and 14% respectively, compared to the same period last year.
During the summer peak, Noi Bai International Airport has been granted permission to handle 37 flights per hour during the daytime and 30 flights per hour at night.
In other news, the Ninh Thuan People’s Committee has asked the Government for approval to develop Thanh Son Airport for civilian use through a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement.
Thanh Son Airport, currently a military airport located in Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province, has a runway capable of accommodating large aircraft such as the A350, B777, and B787. However, the runway and taxiways, constructed in the 1960s, are deteriorating.
