Lender SHB increases charter capital

HCMC – Saigon Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank, which trades its SHB shares on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, has raised its charter capital to nearly VND36.2 trillion after issuing shares to pay dividend for 2022.

Lender SHB finalized the list of shareholders on July 25 for dividend payments in 2022. The bank issued over 552 million shares for an 18% dividend payment, which means shareholders will get 18 additional shares for every 100 shares held.

The bank’s new charter capital of VND36,194 billion will make it one of the four biggest private commercial banks by charter capital.

A representative of SHB said the share issue woud help the bank strengthen its finances and become the most efficient bank by 2027.

Regarding its business performance, SHB earned more than VND6.07 trillion in pre-tax profit in the first half of 2023, up 5.13% year-on-year.

By the end of the second quarter, SHB’s total assets had reached VND585 trillion, up 6.21% against the beginning of the year.

Closing the trading session today, August 10, SHB decreased by 1.52% over yesterday’s session to VND12,950 per share, with over 20 million shares changing hands.

On the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, selling pressure dragged the VN-Index down by 13.38 points, or 1.08% against the previous session, at 1,220.61 points, with losers outnumbering winners by 371 to 118.

Trading volume totaled over 1,010 million shares worth VND20.2 trillion, down by 7% in both volume and value over the previous session. Block deals contributed VND675.8 billion to the overall value, with 28.5 million shares traded.

Stocks of real estate and agriculture enterprises came under pressure from sell-offs today.

VHM and VNM ended down while MSN was the main drag of the VN-Index as it lost 5.7% to VND83,000, followed by GVR with a 3.2% drop to VND21,450.

Meanwhile, NVL became the main support of the VN-Index as it surged by 3.5% to VND20,600 per share, taking the lead by liquidity with over 61.7 million shares changing hands.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index slid 1.97 points, or 0.8%, to 243.91 points, with 64 winners and 125 losers. Total trading volume was 131.5 million shares, with a value of over VND2.04 trillion.
