Chuon Lagoon, about 15 kilometers from the heart of Hue City, Thua Thien-Hue Province, is where travelers can enjoy banh khoai (a typical fried pancake served in Hue) stuffed with a fish called locally as cá kình (Siganus canaliculatus). The fish, a specialty of dwellers in Hue, come in droves in Chuon Lagoon.
Travelers can buy fresh cá kình at An Truyen market and go to a food stall where locals prepare banh khoai with the same fresh fish brought to them by the tourists. The traditional cake served with local fish sauce is a must-try specialty on a trip to Chuon Lagoon which exposes its beauty in summer.
