HCMC – Organizations in Vietnam faced 13,900 cyberattacks from January to November, a 9.5% monthly increase compared to the previous year, according to a recent report by NCS, a cybersecurity company.
The final months of the year saw a significant surge in cyberattacks, averaging 1,614 cases per month. The primary targets of these cyberattacks include state agencies, banking systems, financial organizations, industrial systems, and other critical infrastructure.
The report also highlighted the vulnerabilities detected in Vietnam this year, categorizing them into three main areas: people, platforms, and websites. People were identified as the primary weakness in cybersecurity, accounting for 32.6% of the total vulnerabilities. Platform vulnerabilities followed at 27.4%, and website vulnerabilities ranked at 25.3%.
Hackers’ objectives extend beyond data collection and theft; they also aim to insert unauthorized advertisements, including backlinks, onto official websites, such as illegal gambling and betting sites.
NCS’s statistics revealed that 342 educational websites with the .edu.vn domain and 212 state agency websites with the .gov.vn domain were vulnerable to these types of attacks. Some of them struggled to find effective solutions despite repeated attacks.
