PYN Elite Fund becomes major shareholder of Sao Mai Group

HCMC – The PYN Elite Fund has increased its stake in the Sao Mai Group Corporation, which is listed on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) under stock code ASM, from 3.9% to 5.02%.

The Finnish equity fund purchased an additional 3.75 million ASM shares on January 15. This transaction made PYN Elite Fund a major shareholder of Sao Mai Group, holding nearly 16.9 million ASM shares.

Closing the trading session today, January 19, ASM shares inched down 0.47% to VND10,550 each, with more than 1.6 million shares changing hands.

Regarding Sao Mai’s business performance, the company made nearly VND9.2 trillion in revenue and VND257.6 billion in after-tax profit between January and September 2023, down 13.1% and 71.3% compared to the same period in 2022, respectively.

On the southern bourse, the VN-Index added 12.44 points, or 1.06%, day-on-day, closing at 1,181.5 points, with 306 winners and 186 losers.

Total stock trade reached 662.9 million shares worth VND14.7 trillion, up 11.2% and 12.1% over the previous session, respectively. Block deals contributed VND870 billion to the overall value, with 32.1 million shares transacted.

Lenders BID and VCB were two key drivers for the market, as they contributed nearly 3.5 points and over two points to the overall index. Ending the session, BID surged by 4.9% to its daily high, at VND49,850.

VCB increased by 1.6% to VND92,600, with a trading volume of more than 1.47 million shares.

Meanwhile, VIX was the most liquid one, with 26.83 million shares transacted. Closing the session, VIX inched down 0.6% to VND17,350 per share.

With 76 advancers and 83 decliners, the HNX-Index of the Hanoi Stock Exchange slid 0.45 point, or 0.19%, day-on-day, at 229.48 points. There were 59.93 million shares worth VND1.08 trillion traded on the northern bourse.
