HCMC – The Politburo of the Party Central Committee this morning, January 27, took disciplinary measures against a number of officials, including former Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and former Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung.
Trinh Dinh Dung, while serving as member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister from 2016 to 2021, violated Party and State regulations, and the don’ts for Party members.
The violations committed by Trinh Dinh Dung hurt the prestige of the Party and the Government.
Mai Tien Dung violated Party and State regulations, and the don’ts for Party members during his tenure as member of the Party Central Committee and and Minister-Chairman of the Government Office.
Both officials were reprimanded by the Politburo.
The Party Central Committee’s Secretariat also issued a warning to the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) in the 2016-2021 term and a reprimand to the MoIT’s Party Civil Affairs Committee in the 2021-2026 term.
The Politburo and Secretariat concluded that the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the MoIT in both terms violated the principle of democratic centralism and Party and State regulations and that they were irresponsible and lax in their leadership and direction, which led to serious consequences.
Former MoIT Deputy Minister Hoang Quoc Vuong and MoIT Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai were expelled from the Party. Both were previously detained by the police.
Do Thang Hai were arrested on alleged charges of taking bribes in connection with the Xuyen Viet Oil case, while Hoang Quoc Vuong was detained for allegedly abusing his positions and powers while on duty.
