HCMC – Flood tides in HCMC are expected to peak this afternoon, February 12, with water levels projected to rise to 1.6 meters, posing a threat to the low-lying areas within the city.

Water levels at the Phu An station downstream of the Saigon River will reach 1.61 meters at 7:30 p.m. today, the third day of the Tet holiday.

At the Nha Be station on the Dong Dien River, the tidal peak fluctuates between 1.58 meters and 1.64 meters at 6-7 p.m. today, according to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center.

A surge in tides can result in waterlogging and flooding in low-lying areas and the inner city along the rivers.

The local authority has urged relevant departments, units, and agencies to implement proactive measures to prevent flooding triggered by heavy rain and flood tides.
