HCMC – Authorities have proposed the installation of new traffic signals at 16 intersections around Tan Son Nhat International Airport, with a cost of VND14.5 billion. These systems will be integrated with a surveillance center to facilitate traffic movement.
The project is part of the city’s effort to alleviate traffic congestion in the areas around the airport, as the current traffic signal systems at these intersections cannot be remotely controlled.
Under the proposal, new traffic signals will be installed at seven intersections on the streets of Hong Ha, Bach Dang, Dang Van Sam, Hoang Minh Giam, Pho Quang, and Huynh Lan Khanh.
Additionally, traffic signals on Truong Chinh Street leading to these areas and at the crossroad at Ut Tich-Nguyen Thai Binh and An Suong interchange will also be replaced and integrated with the traffic surveillance center.
Out of the total cost, VND5.7 billion will be spent on equipment and construction, while the remaining amount will be used for integration.
Traffic jams often happen in the areas surrounding Tan Son Nhat International Airport due to the rapid rise in traffic through these areas.
