Dong Nai allows workers to use personal cars to travel to/from HCMC

HCMC – The Dong Nai government has agreed to allow workers to use private vehicles to travel between the province and HCMC.

The provincial government today, October 14, sent an urgent dispatch to the HCMC government announcing the easing of restrictions on the movement of laborers between the two localities.

Workers traveling between Dong Nai and HCMC in their personal cars should have received at least one Covid-19 vaccine shot at least 14 days earlier or should have recovered from the disease in the past six months. Besides, they must undergo Covid-19 tests every seven days.

The province said that its plan on the travel of laborers between the two localities would change after it issues instructions on the implementation of the Government’s Resolution 128 issued on October 11 on “safely and flexibly adapting to and effectively controlling Covid-19”.

Earlier, the HCMC government sent its plan on the movement of laborers between HCMC and four neighboring provinces—Long An, Tay Ninh, Binh Duong and Dong Nai.

Under the city’s plan, workers are allowed to travel from/to HCMC in their motorbikes or cars, or their firms’ shuttle buses.

However, Dong Nai Province only allowed enterprises to arrange vehicles to transport their employees from/to HCMC, the local media reported.

On October 12, the Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority (DIZA) wrote to the Dong Nai government proposing allowing experts and employees to use their own cars and motorbikes to travel between the province and its neighboring localities.

Many major firms use a large number of experts and workers from Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and HCMC, DIZA said, adding that if the proposal was not handled quickly, highly skilled foreign experts might travel to other localities for work, negatively affecting the production recovery of the Dong Nai-based firms.
