HCMC – Vietnam’s President To Lam and Laos’ Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith pledged to deepen bilateral ties during a meeting held in Hanoi on July 25.
Leading a high-level delegation of Lao officials, Sisoulith was in Vietnam to attend a two-day State funeral in honor of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Sisoulith expressed his condolences and the profound sorrow of Laos over the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He underscored the longstanding friendship and strong ties between Vietnam and Laos, with the significant loss incurred by both countries.
Lam expressed gratitude for the Lao delegation’s presence and commended Laos on its recent achievements. Reaffirming Vietnam’s steadfast commitment to supporting Laos’ socioeconomic development, Lam outlined potential areas for enhanced collaboration, including Party building and economic integration.
