HCMC – The newly upgraded Hai Van Gate, a national relic on the snaking Hai Van Pass between Thua Thien-Hue Province and Danang City, will be opened to visitors from August 1.
Admission will be free until local authorities determine ticket pricing.
On December 19, 2021, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, in collaboration with the Danang Department of Culture and Sports, began upgrading the Hai Van Gate. The VND42-billion project is equally funded by the two neighboring localities.
Built in 1826, the Hai Van Gate is a military outpost at the summit of the Hai Van Pass, marking the boundary between Thua Thien-Hue and Danang. It was recognized as a national monument by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2017.
