HCMC expels four individuals from Party

HCMC – The HCMC Party Committee’s Inspection Commission has expelled four individuals from the Party, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The HCMC Party Committee’s Inspection Commission on August 9 provided information regarding reviews, recommendations and disciplinary actions against several Party members.

The four individuals expelled from the Party are Truong Thanh Phong, former deputy secretary of the Party Committee and former general director of VINAFOOD II; Nguyen Hong Phu, former secretary of the Party Committee, former director of Phu Rieng Rubber Company Limited, and former deputy general director of Vietnam Rubber Group; Nguyen Quang Thong, former editor-in-chief of Thanh Nien newspaper; and Do Cao Dai, former deputy director of the BIDV Tay Saigon Branch.

Truong Thanh Phong was found to have violated Party regulations, failed in leadership, and was held responsible for misconduct in the management and use of the land plot at 132 Ben Van Don Street, Ward 6, District 4, HCMC.

Nguyen Hong Phu was found guilty of failing in his leadership, management, and operational duties at the company. He was sentenced by the HCMC People’s Court to three years and six months in prison for violating State regulations on economic management, resulting in severe consequences.

Nguyen Quang Thong committed multiple violations in the process of carrying out a real estate development project which featured an office tower, a commercial center, and a luxury apartment tower in District 4, HCMC.

Do Cao Dai was found to have violated Party regulations and mishandled banking activities, including the assessment and approval of loan applications, which resulted in damage to the bank’s branch.

The HCMC Party Committee’s Inspection Commission also recommended that the competent Party organization review and discipline Le Duy Minh, director of the HCMC Department of Finance, for violating the Party regulations and accepting bribes.
