HCMC – The Management Authority for Urban Railways of HCMC (MAUR) has announced that the city’s Metro Line No. 1 would have 200 trips a day in the first six months after it is put into service later this year.

The urban rail line, connecting Ben Thanh Market in District 1 and Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City, will operate from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. during this initial phase.

Nine trains will run every eight minutes during peak hours, and six trains will operate every 12 minutes during off-peak hours.

Fares will vary based on distance traveled, with a minimum fare of VND12,000 for journeys under five kilometers and a maximum of VND18,000 for the entire 20-kilometer route.

The city has allocated a budget to cover 100% of fare costs for the first three months of operation. The effort aims to encourage ridership and integrate the metro with the existing bus network.

The HCMC Urban Railways No.1 Company Limited, the operating company, has recruited 380 staff to manage the line, including train drivers, station attendants, and maintenance personnel.
