HCMC – All wet markets in HCMC’s Thu Duc City will resume their operations on October 30 in line with the city’s plan.

As planned, these markets will gradually reopen, with 19 traditional markets in Thu Duc City set to resume in the next two days.

To ensure safety during the reopening, the Thu Duc City government has asked the ward-level authorities to promptly vaccinate vendors against Covid-19, the local media reported.

The authorities of the wards need to encourage market-goers and vendors to make non-cash payments to prevent the potential spread of Covid-19.

Thu Duc City also ordered markets to respect Covid safety regulations and only allow vendors and market-goers who received at least one shot of a Covid vaccine 14 days ago or recovered from the disease within the last six months. These vendors and customers must use the VNEID or Y Te HCM mobile apps to file health declarations.

The markets should also install plastic divider curtains between stalls and between vendors and buyers, and monitor the number of market-goers to prevent big crowds.

As of October 21, 96 of 234 traditional markets in HCMC had resumed their operations. In the coming days, 20 more markets will restart their operations.
