Mobile World chairman sells one million MWG shares

HCMC – Nguyen Duc Tai, chairman of the Board of Directors of Mobile World Investment Corporation (HOSE, ticker: MWG), has successfully offloaded one million MWG shares, according to the local media.

The transactions were made between September 9 and 19, reducing his ownership in Mobile World from 33.4 million shares, equivalent to 2.29% of the retailer’s charter capital, to nearly 32.4 million shares, or 2.2%.

In June this year, he also sold two million MWG shares.

Dang Minh Luom, a board member of Mobile World, has recently registered to offload one million MWG shares to reduce his stake in the firm from 0.22% to 0.15%. The share sale will be conducted from September 25 to October 24.

Closing the trading session today, September 23, MWG fell by 1.03% against the previous session to VND67,300 per share, with five million shares changing hands.

On the southern exchange, widespread selling pressure caused the market to reverse and decline slightly, ending a streak of four consecutive rising sessions.

The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange lost 3.56 points, or 0.28%, against the final session last week, to 1,268.48 points, with 261 losers and 137 winners.

Around 564 million shares worth VND12.9 trillion were traded on bourse, down by 37.2% in volume and 40.9% in value compared to the previous session on September 20. Block deal transactions contributed VND2.45 trillion to the overall value.

The VN30 group ended the session with a decline of nearly five points, with nine stocks rising and 19 declining. Due to selling pressure, SSB closed down by 3.63% to VND15,950 per share.

VPB took the lead by liquidity, with more than 29 million shares changing hands.

On the northern exchange, the HNX-Index lost 0.92 point, or 0.39%, to end at 233.38 points. Total trading volume reached 41.37 million shares valued at a total of VND767.3 billion.
