HCMC – Nearly 90% of firms in the southern province of Binh Duong have reopened, with over 500,000 workers returning to work, as the latest Covid resurgence in the province has been brought under control.

A vast majority of the workers have been fully vaccinated and various incentives have been offered to attract workers, reported Bnews.

Electronic accessories manufacturer Ampacs International at the Bau Bang Industrial Park resumed operations on September 17 and has welcome over 1,500 workers, or 25% of the total, back to work.

To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the company has adopted stringent measures, including asking its workers to undergo a 14-day quarantine at the firm’s dormitory before entering its workshops. During the quarantine, each worker will be paid VND170,000 per day. After they complete the quarantine requirement and begin working, each will receive a VND150,000 daily bonus.

According to the firm’s board of directors, the firm is offering incentives in terms of salaries and bonuses to attract more workers in the hope of receiving 8,000 workers to be able to operate at full capacity.

At the Far Eastern Polytex Vietnam Company, the board of directors and the labor union have also adopted policies to support its employees who have been affected by the pandemic. The company has provided its workers with necessities and maintained the monthly payment of over VND8 million for each worker, in addition to other allowances once the workers return to work as scheduled. Each worker would be offered a bonus of VND1.5-2 million if they get back to work in the first month to help production recover.

Nguyen Thanh Toan, director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, said enterprises in the province have gradually reopened. Many of them have restarted production quickly thanks to their incentives to support and retain employees.

Companies in the province were given the authority to select appropriate production models. If a company detects a Covid-infected worker, only the production line or workshop or division directly linked to the infection should be locked down, instead of the entire factory as earlier.

The province has also taken other measures to help enterprises remove obstacles to help production recover at the earliest.
