Nam Long Group (HOSE: NLG) has officially released the foremost Sustainability Report, becoming one of the pioneering real estate firms in Vietnam to voluntarily publish this report independently of its annual report. This initiative highlights the Group’s commitment to aligning with the national objectives of promoting sustainable economic growth, environmental protection, and enhancing community living standards.
Nam Long has developed a reporting framework with reference to the principles of sustainable development reporting in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (“GRI”) standards issued by the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB) in 2021 while also reflecting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations as a framework for its long-term growth strategy. The Group’s sustainability initiatives focus on three main pillars: Environmental Stewardship, Human Capital Development and Community Engagement, and Responsible Business. In 2023, Nam Long prioritized Sustainable urban planning, Residential community development, and Local community engagement.
As a developer of large-scale integrated modern townships spanning hundreds of hectares, which serve as new “Live-Learn-Work-Shop-Play” centers for local communities, Nam Long places significant emphasis on sustainable urban planning and community development. The Group has consistently applied green and eco-friendly standards in the design and construction process, utilizing technologies and materials that minimize environmental impacts such as waste and emissions. Most of Nam Long’s integrated modern townships maintain a low construction density of around 30-40%. Notably, Waterpoint, one of the featured projects, has substantial areas for green spaces and water surfaces up to 95 hectares. The Group also strives to preserve the local ecosystem along the riverbank. Nam Long has also focused on developing residential communities and contributing to local communities with quality social amenities such as schools, parks, multi-functional sports centers, and Vietnam-Japan cultural house. Over the past year, several large-scale social events took place at Waterpoint township, such as the National Tennis Tournament, New Year’s Eve fireworks, the “Sunset on Vam Co River” community run, and events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Japan relationship.
Alongside integrating sustainability into product development, Nam Long has consistently upheld strong sustainable governance practices over the years. With a highly successful international collaboration strategy over the past decade involving major partners from Japan, the United States, and Singapore, Nam Long’s governance model has aligned with international standards, ensuring professionalism and transparency.
Mr. Lucas Loh, CEO of Nam Long Group, said, “I believe that in just a few years, Vietnam will resemble other developed nations, where sustainable development will no longer be a choice for business, but a market requirement and an indispensable factor. The release of our sustainability report not only enhances Nam Long’s creditability and strengthen trusts among stakeholders, partners, and customers, but also enables us to assess and refine our business strategies, ensuring long-term and sustainable growth.”
