HCMC – One more sand mine was opened on October 6 to supply material for the construction of the Cao Lanh-An Huu Expressway in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.
The sand mine on the Tien River in Tan Thuan Tay Commune, Cao Lanh City, covers an area of 33.96 hectares and has total reserves of over 855,000 cubic meters. This year, 347,000 cubic meters of sand will be extracted during a three-month period from October to December to build the expressway’s first component.
Previously, Dong Thap authorities had granted permission for the exploitation of three other sand mines. A substantial amount of sand from these mines is currently being transported to the expressway construction site in compliance with regulations.
Construction of the Cao Lanh-An Huu Expressway’s first component, which runs through Dong Thap Province, began in late June 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of next year. The project has reached over 40% completion so far.
