HCMC – A fire at a funeral service facility in Nha Trang City in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa left two adults and two children dead on November 28, local media reported.
The blaze began at around 10 a.m. on the ground floor of a three-story building on Phuong Sai Street, which houses the funeral service facility.
The premises contained highly flammable materials, including coffins and incense, enabling the blaze to spread rapidly to the upper floors where a family of four was trapped.
Despite attempts by residents to extinguish the fire, it quickly intensified. Firefighters and four fire trucks contained the fire within 30 minutes.
The building suffered extensive damage, particularly on the ground floor and mezzanine. The victims were found in a 30-square-meter mezzanine room, which was used for sleeping and daily activities.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
