HCMC – The Van Phong-Nha Trang Expressway as part of the North-South Expressway is expected to be completed by April 30, months ahead of schedule, according to Project Management Board No. 7 under the Ministry of Transport.
The 83-kilometer expressway, which connects the southern entrance of the Co Ma tunnel and the Nha Trang-Cam Lam expressway, is already 90% complete in terms of construction value.
The VND11.8-trillion project runs through Van Ninh, Ninh Hoa, Khanh Vinh, and Dien Khanh.
Major components, including 34 bridges, 85 underpasses, and drainage systems, are nearly complete. Road foundation work stands at 96%, while asphalt paving and traffic safety systems have reached 85% completion.
According to the project management board, construction is currently about eight months ahead of schedule. Both the investor and contractors have committed to finishing the project by April 30, as directed by the Prime Minister.
Regarding site clearance, resettlement, and technical infrastructure relocation, some challenges remain at rest areas and additional frontage roads. However, local authorities have actively facilitated the process, ensuring the handover of 65% of the rest areas and four out of 5.5 kilometers of frontage roads.
