HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has instructed relevant ministries to urgently consider further easing visa requirements for foreign tourists.
In Directive No. 34/CD-TTg, the prime minister emphasized that easing entry requirements for international visitors is key to revitalizing Vietnam’s tourism industry and achieving the Government’s goal of double-digit economic growth.
The Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of National Defense, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been asked to work closely with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to review and propose a more flexible and convenient visa policy.
These include short-term visa waivers and streamlined procedures for tourists participating in promotional travel programs or cultural diplomacy events held by the Government.
In addition, the proposal is expected to include visa incentives for high-profile individuals such as researchers, artists, world-class athletes, experts, scientists, investors, and billionaires visiting Vietnam for leisure travel, business or innovation-related activities.
The PM also requested that the ministries consider visa policy reforms that would further promote tourism development in border areas.
All proposals must be submitted to the PM this month.
