HCMC – HCMC will stage a large-scale cultural and sports program from April 19 to 30 to mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation (April 30, 1975-2025).

The series, titled “Colors of the City named after Uncle Ho Chi Minh”, will feature a wide range of performances and exhibitions across major public venues.

The opening ceremony is set for April 19 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in front of the HCMC People’s Committee headquarters, along Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, and on the Saigon River waterfront from Ba Son Bridge to Nha Rong Wharf. It will feature a 3D mapping light show synchronized with a symphonic and choral performance.

Following the opening speeches, a spectacle titled “Lighting Up the Faith” will combine fireworks, laser effects, and water-based performances such as flyboarding and sailing, transforming the Saigon River into a vibrant open-air stage.

A highlight of the night will be a drone light show featuring more than 2,000 drones forming symbols representing the city and national history. A grand fireworks display set to music will conclude the event.

From April 19 to 30, Nguyen Hue street will host a series of performances ranging from traditional folk art, cai luong (a traditional Vietnamese genre of opera), and hat boi ( a genre of Vietnamese traditional drama) to contemporary music, street sports, martial arts, and artistic gymnastics.

A mounted parade arranged by the Ministry of Public Security and brass band concerts featuring the Military Region 7 music troupe will also be staged.

On April 30, a drone light show with around 10,500 UAVs is expected to depict symbolic visuals representing the city’s development and the reunification milestone.

Other notable events include an EDM/DJ night with 3D light projections and fireworks, blending modern entertainment with historical reflection. From April 26 to 28, Nguyen Hue street will also host an outdoor film exhibition titled “Echoes of the 1975 Spring Victory in Cinema”, featuring public screenings and interactions with film crews.
