HCMC – Troops from Cambodia and Laos joined a parade rehearsal in downtown HCMC for the first time on Tuesday night, alongside over 10,000 personnel from Vietnam’s military, police, and other forces as preparations ramp up for the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation.

The full-scale rehearsal marked the second such rehearsal ahead of the April 30 celebration. A total of 48 marching formations made their way through main streets in District 1, and some of them interacted with onlookers.

Official rehearsals will continue with a preview on April 25 and a final state-level rehearsal on April 27.

The main ceremony is scheduled to begin at 6:30 a.m. on April 30. After passing the grandstand in front of the Independence Palace, the participating formations will regroup at Tao Dan Park, Hoa Lu Stadium, and Le Van Tam Park.
