HCMC – The Ministry of Industry and Trade has imposed an anti-dumping duty ranging from 23.1% to 27.83% on certain hot-rolled steel products imported from China.
The move is outlined in Decision No. 1959, issued by the ministry, which also marks the conclusion of an anti-dumping investigation into similar steel imports from India, reported the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).
Authorities found that the volume of Indian imports under investigation was insignificant—less than 3% of total imports during the review period—and therefore decided not to apply a duty on products of Indian origin.
The decision follows a thorough investigation in coordination with relevant agencies to assess the impact of dumped imports on domestic producers and to determine the margin of dumping by exporters in China and India.
Final findings confirmed that both Chinese and Indian hot-rolled steel products had been dumped on the Vietnamese market, causing material injury to the local industry. However, due to the negligible volume from India, only steel from China is subject to the anti-dumping measure.
The ministry said that the imposed duty may be reviewed or adjusted upon request by stakeholders, in line with legal procedures, to ensure the measure is appropriately targeted and time-bound.
The anti-dumping duty is aimed at safeguarding Vietnam’s domestic steel industry against unfair competition and aligning with international trade rules.
