HCMC – HCMC is accelerating work on Beltway No. 3, with 10 construction packages reaching 50% completion and the target of a 47.3-kilometer technical opening by late 2025 deemed achievable.

The information was released by the city’s Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Board during a press conference on the city’s socio-economic developments on July 31.

To enable traffic on the main route of HCMC Beltway No. 3, construction progress must reach at least 70% of the contract value.

As of now, work on the HCMC section of the project (Component 1), covering 10 main construction packages, has reached around 50% completion.

Specifically, the five contract packages in the former Thu Duc City area have reached 55% completion.

Contractors are focusing on key components such as girder placement and bridge deck construction, with the goal of exceeding 70% progress by the end of 2025 to ensure the 14.7-kilometer elevated expressway section is officially opened on schedule.

The remaining five contract packages in the former districts of Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, and Binh Chanh have reached 45% completion.

As for auxiliary components such as traffic safety systems, signaling, and lighting, the HCMC Transport Management Board said that implementation will begin in October 2025 to align with the timeline for the technical opening of the main route.

It believes that the goal of officially opening the 14.7-kilometer expressway section in the former Thu Duc City and conducting a technical opening of the 32.6-kilometer section through the former districts of Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, and Binh Chanh by the end of this year is entirely achievable.

The board will continue urging contractors to accelerate construction progress, aiming to complete and open the entire beltway, including the parallel route, by April 30 next year, as scheduled.
