HCMC – Users of 18 state-funded sections of the North-South Expressway will be charged from VND900 to VND1,300 per kilometer from January next year.
The Ministry of Construction has approved a scheme to utilize road traffic infrastructure assets for the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan Expressway and the eastern North-South Expressway.
Accordingly, 13 state-funded expressway projects, including Bai Vot-Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi-Vung Ang, Vung Ang-Bung, Bung-Van Ninh, Van Ninh-Cam Lo, Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan, Quang Ngai-Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon-Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon-Chi Thanh, Chi Thanh-Van Phong, Van Phong-Nha Trang, Can Tho-Hau Giang, and Hau Giang-Ca Mau, will collect tolls for seven years from the date of operation.
Of these 13 projects, only Quang Ngai-Hoai Nhon, Chi Thanh-Van Phong, Can Tho-Hau Giang, and Hau Giang-Ca Mau sections are still under construction and are expected to be completed by the end of this year, while the remaining sections have already been opened to traffic.
The Ministry of Construction also approved the infrastructure utilization scheme for five state-funded North-South expressway projects in phase 1, which will begin toll collection in January 2026. These include Mai Son-National Highway 45, National Highway 45-Nghi Son, Nghi Son-Dien Chau, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay.
Based on Decree No. 130/2024, the Department for Roads of Vietnam proposed two toll rates.
The first rate, set at VND1,300 per PCU per kilometer, will apply to expressways that fully meet toll collection standards, including having four lanes and continuous emergency stopping lanes.
The second rate, at VND900 per PCU per kilometer, will apply to expressways that were approved for investment before the Road Traffic Law took effect but do not fully meet the requirements, such as having four lanes but only discontinuous emergency stopping lanes.
