HCMC – Teachers nationwide are expected to see their base salaries increase by VND2 million to VND7 million per month, excluding allowances, said the Minister of Education and Training.
The Ministry of Education and Training is completing a draft regulation on salaries, allowances and incentive policies for teachers. The move is meant to implement the Law on Teachers, which was passed by the National Assembly in June this year and will take effect early next year, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
The ministry is also drafting a decree to guide several provisions of the law, including teacher recruitment procedures. The recruitment will comprise two rounds of examinations, in line with current regulations for public employees.
Notably, the second round will be redesigned to focus more closely on professional knowledge and practical teaching skills. This is aimed at ensuring a more accurate assessment of pedagogical capacity and professional competence across education levels.
The new approach is expected to address shortcomings in the previous recruitment process, which applied a uniform mechanism for public employees without fully accounting for the specific nature of teaching.
