HCMC – Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam are set to pay a state visit to Laos and attend a ceremony marking the 50th National Day of Laos on December 1-2.
The visit is made at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his spouse, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the trip, Party General Secretary To Lam will co-chair a high-level meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
This is Lam’s first state visit to Laos in his capacity as Party leader, and his third trip to the country in the past two years.
His visit to Laos comes at a significant moment – the final year of the current Party Congress term, as both the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party prepare for their respective congresses in early 2026.
Beyond political, defense and security cooperation, Vietnam and Laos are striving to upgrade economic ties, boost two-way trade and improve infrastructure connectivity.
Vietnamese investments in Laos, from energy and agriculture to telecommunications and infrastructure, are delivering clear benefits. The two countries are also advancing key transport and energy projects to strengthen sustainable economic links and support deeper regional and global integration.
