HCMC – Vietnam’s National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and the Central Power Projects Management Board (CPMB) on November 26 successfully energized the 220kV Tuong Duong–Do Luong transmission line, paving the way for increased power imports from Laos.

Owned by EVNNPT, managed by CPMB, and operated by Power Transmission Company No. 1, the line runs 80.66 kilometers through several communes in Nghe An Province, including Tam Quang, Chau Khe, Con Cuong, Mon Son, Vinh Tuong, Anh Son, Yen Xuan, Cat Ngan, and Do Luong, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The development includes two new 220kV circuits and the expansion of two feeder bays at the existing Do Luong 220kV substation on its western side.

Once in operation, the project will enhance power supply stability for Nghe An and transmit electricity from the Nam Mo hydropower cluster in Laos, as well as the My Ly and Nam Mo 1 hydropower plants and other small hydropower facilities in the region. Power will be fed into the national grid through the Tuong Duong 220kV substation.

Despite challenges related to site clearance and unfavorable weather conditions in the aftermath of the recent storms, the project was completed one month ahead of the schedule approved by the provincial government.
