Former South Korean PM Lee Hae Chan passes away in HCMC

HCMC – The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs worked closely with Ho Chi Minh City and relevant agencies to ensure the best possible medical treatment for former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chan. However, due to the severity of his illness, he passed away.

Responding to reporters’ questions seeking confirmation that former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chan had died in Ho Chi Minh City, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said on January 25 that, due to a serious illness, Lee Hae Chan had died in the city.

“Immediately after receiving the information, over the past few days the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has closely coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and relevant agencies to create the best possible medical conditions for Mr. Lee Hae Chan during his treatment in Ho Chi Minh City. However, due to the severity of his illness, Mr. Lee Hae Chan passed away,” Hang said.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other Vietnamese leaders have sent their condolences and deepest sympathies to the Government of the Republic of Korea and the family of Lee Hae Chan.
