HCMC – HCMC has approved investment policy for a VND8.78 trillion inter-port road linking Cat Lai Port with Beltway No. 3 and a VND3.68 trillion Thu Thiem 4 Bridge project, according to resolutions passed on February 6.

The inter-port road will run about 5.9 kilometers, starting at Nguyen Thi Dinh Street and ending at the junction of the HCMC–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway and Beltway No.3. The road will have a width of 60 meters and include several interchanges and bridges.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of this year and is expected to take two years. The project will be split into two components: compensation, resettlement, and infrastructure relocation, estimated at about VND1.4 trillion, and road construction, estimated at around VND7.38 trillion.

City authorities said the route is designed as a dedicated corridor linking the Cat Lai–Phu Huu port system directly with the regional transport network. The project is expected to shorten logistics routes for southern Vietnam and the Mekong Delta and reduce pressure on major roads in the eastern part of the city.

The People’s Council also approved the investment policy for Thu Thiem 4 Bridge, with a total route length of about 2.1 kilometers. The bridge will connect Nguyen Van Linh Street in Tan Thuan Ward with Nguyen Co Thach Street in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area.

The bridge will have eight lanes, including six motorized lanes and two mixed-traffic lanes. The project is planned for implementation during 2026–2028, with investment approval targeted for the first quarter of 2026 and detailed design approval in the third quarter.

The Thu Thiem 4 project will also be divided into two components: compensation and resettlement, estimated at about VND1.39 trillion, and bridge construction, estimated at around VND3.68 trillion.

According to city authorities, the bridge will improve connectivity between the Thu Thiem New Urban Area and the southern part of the city and help ease traffic pressure on several key river crossings and urban routes.
