HCMC – Fireworks lit up the sky over HCMC at midnight on February 17, as the city launched displays at 17 locations to ring in the Lunar New Year 2026.

The displays included around 70 low-altitude fireworks arrays and 1,200 high-altitude shells. The show lasted 15 minutes, from 12:00 a.m. to 12:15 a.m.

Four sites featured both high- and low-altitude fireworks. These included the Saigon River tunnel entrance in An Khanh Ward, the new urban center in Binh Duong Ward, Tam Thang Square in Vung Tau Ward, and Ba Ria Park Square in Ba Ria Ward.

Other launch sites included the Cu Chi Tunnels historical site, Saigon Marina IFC tower on Ton Duc Thang Street, Vuon Cau residential project in Lai Thieu Ward, and several public squares and historical locations.

New locations this year included sites in Dong Hoa Ward, the Con Dao special zone, Kim Long villa area in Nha Be Commune, and the Rung Sac Martyrs’ Memorial in Can Gio Commune.

Large crowds gathered in central areas such as Nguyen Hue Walking Street and Bach Dang Wharf along the Saigon River. Many arrived early to watch the countdown and fireworks.

Families, young people, and foreign tourists watched the displays and recorded the moment. The fireworks marked the start of the Lunar New Year and concluded shortly after midnight.
