HCMC – The Politburo of the Party Central Committee has approved an 8% increase in the base salary for public sector workers, lifting it toVND2.53 million per month from July 1.
The rise, from the current VND2.34 million, will apply to officials, civil servants, public employees and members of the armed forces, Nguyen Duy Cuong, deputy director general of the Department of Wages and Social Insurance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, said at a press briefing on April 28.
The base salary is used to calculate wages, allowances and other benefits across the public sector.
Cuong said the proposal had been submitted by the Government’s Party Committee and approved by the Politburo.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has completed a draft decree on the adjustment and sent it to the Ministry of Justice for review, he said.
Based on the appraisal feedback, the Ministry of Home Affairs will continue refining the draft and submit it to the Government for review and issuance, ensuring it takes effect from July 1, 2026.
