HCMC – Ho Chi Minh City plans to provide VND1 million in financial aid for each of people in policy beneficiary groups, poor households, and social welfare recipients to mark the 50th anniversary of Saigon-Gia Dinh officially being named after President Ho Chi Minh on July 2, 1976.
Beneficiaries include people with meritorious service to the revolution and their relatives, social welfare recipients, poor and near-poor residents, and those in other disadvantaged groups.
Regarding eligibility procedures, representatives of the HCMC Department of Home Affairs said residents already listed in existing management systems do not need to do additional paperwork.
For people with meritorious service and their relatives, authorities are coordinating with wards and communes to review existing local databases and compile beneficiary lists for approval by the city government before direct payments are made.
However, residents who believe they are eligible but have not previously been included in official records or who have recently changed their place of residence are advised to contact their local ward or commune authorities to verify information and complete any necessary paperwork.
For social welfare recipients, poor and near-poor residents, and other disadvantaged groups not directly managed by the home affairs sector, the department advised residents to contact relevant agencies such as the Department of Health, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, or local authorities for guidance on eligibility requirements, review procedures, and payment methods.
Authorities also warned residents to rely only on official announcements from local governments and remain cautious of unverified information circulating on social media requesting online registration or service fees for processing support requests.
